‘What is it with the Labour Government and party that it has such a mean and niggardly attitude towards England?’ the National Council of the CEP has asked its membership in its St George’s Day message ‘All it could bring itself to spend on the St George’s Day celebration 2009 was a miserly £116 for a flag to fly over the Department of Culture building in Whitehall. ‘Mrs Barbara Follett, Culture Minister, MP for Stevenage in Hertfordshire and the designated ‘Minister’ for the East of England whose responsibilities take in matters like national celebrations, when challenged in the Commons, simply refused to spend a penny more
‘Compare Scotland and Wales . About £440,000 was spent by the Scottish Government on last November's St Andrew’s Day celebrations, which included a series of concerts and ceilidhs across the country, while 7,500 Scottish Executive staff were given the day off, adding up to almost one million pounds in all. In Wales , the Welsh Assembly Government organised a packed programme of events last month for St David's Day, including a reception in Brussels , a food market in London , and free admission to national monuments.
‘But there is a lot more to it than just meanness towards England on the part of the Labour Government and the UK establishment in general,’ said Veronica |Newman the campaign secretary and its organiser in Wiltshire in the same message to members. ‘That meanness is an aspect of a much bigger issue, namely the hostility of the bulk of the British Establishment political, academic and cultural, to England and Englishness. The BBC is culturally the most influential embodiement of anti-Englishness. The overwhelming majority of MPs in the House of Commons are English and all three parties have the bulk of their support in England . You would think that they would demand, and by reason of their numbers get, equality for English people with the Scots and the Welsh. But they don’t. With a mere handful of exceptions they show no pride in being English, they do not stand up for England , they assert they are British rather than English.; and perversely they regard the rise of Englishness, the re-discovery of English identity and the omni-presence of the English flag as a threat to the Union. The English people they belong to is the oldest unified nation in Europe, it has a political and cultural history which is admired the world over, its language is now the world’s language, what it has achieved in industrial and technological invention is second to none, but they act as if they are ashamed to belong.
The Prime Minister and the Chancellorship of the Exchequer, both Scottish MPs, ensure Scotland enjoys immense benefits from devolution and the Barnett Formula, and no one regards their generosity to their fellow countrymen and women as a threat to the Union. Our English MPs could well learn a lesson from them both.

The 1998 devolution legislation is now creating division and injustice in the UK trade union movement
The GMB Union, ‘Britain’s General Union’, with nearly half a million membership, some 40% of them women, is now another example of how the injustice against the English people inherent in the 1998 devolution legislation is penetrating every aspect of our national life. That is what the GMB membership in England has found out to their cost. That is what has now come to light because of an exchange of letters between one GMB member and the Union HQ.
Said Ken Seaton from Stockport in Cheshire: ‘I wrote to the GMB National Secretary for local services Brian Strutton to ask ‘Can you explain why GMB members in England were advised to accept 2.45% for 08/09 on the basis that that was the best that could be obtained by negotiation whilst Scottish members were advised to reject the larger offer of 3.02%? And am I correct in understanding that the 09/10 pay award for Scotland’s G|MC council workers was 2.5% whilst our offer in England is 0.5%? I asked Mr Strutton if the Scottish GMB was devolved from the rest of our Union and whether we all pay the same subs. I asked him if the Scottish membership were to take industrial action to widen the pay scales even further, would their strike pay come just from the Scottish GMB or from the UK-wide GMC membership. As I wrote to the Union, it looks like devolution has put Scotland in a win-win situation; and I asked what was the Union position on an English Parliament’
‘And the reply I received? Mr Strutton replied that Scottish local government has been separate from that of England, Wales and NI for the past ten years, that is since devolution and that’s why there are different pay offers and why GMB members in Scotland take their own decisions. In other words, said Mr Seaton, when it comes to the basic reason for having a union, namely wages, the Scottish GMB is a separate union altogether. Mr Strutton did not answer any of my other questions.
‘It makes me really angry. That is why I got on to the Campaign for an English Parliament about it and it’s one reason why I joined the campaign. Top-up fees for English university students, not for Scottish students; English old people forced to sell their homes to pay for personal care in care homes but not in Scotland; prescription charges and parking charges at hospitals here but not there; and wage settlements for council workers, nurses, teachers and the police bigger and better in Scotland. Just some of the examples of the discrimination England is now experiencing.
‘What we are witnessing,’ said Scilla Cullen Chairman of the Campaign commenting on this GMB correspondence ‘boils down to two things. It’s now not only English MPs who are supinely accepting a worse deal within the UK for their constituents and doing nothing about it but also trade union leaderships.
Gordon Brown is certainly fulfilling the pledge he made in writing in March 1989 to the Scottish people in the 'Scottish Claim of Right' that vowed to make the welfare of the people of Scotland paramount in everything he says and does. He parades what he calls 'Britishness' but in reality his first concern is Scotland. It just isn’t right, it just isn’t fair.’

This more than likely applies to all Unions across board and you should contact and question your Union and demand answers.

Campaign for an English Parliament
With the British introduction of the1998 Devolution Acts that signified the beginning of the end of the old British Empire, your campaign has been at the forefront in fighting to provide you our members, the general public, politicians, and the political media in general with information on how asymmetric devolution is not only leading to the break up of the United Kingdom, but it is totally destroying England and English national unity.
Our claim for an English Parliament and the political and constitutional recognition of our country England is a just one, and it is recognised by the British establishment to be so. There is no better time than now in the midst of a world recession to carry out the final act of devolution that will reinvigorate the whole concept of a United Kingdom.

The British want to bring back slavery, but they only want to make slaves of the English
Not a day goes by without hearing about the British suggesting, directing or inflicting more pain and discrimination on England and our English Nation, and what a useless lot of MPs of all parties we now have, and non more useless than those we have in the West Midlands where another Sandwell MP (Tom Watson) appears to be involved in another political scandal that has already forced the resignation of his buddy Mad Dog Damian McBride.
These are the type of British MPs we have elected to represent England and the MPs that now hold our nation in such utter contempt that their Prime Minister has suggested that they vote for our school children to be taken into slavery and be criminalised. Yes! It is our children only, England’s children, that the British want to force to do 50 hours community work as part of their Prime Ministers British Citizenship program. Community work is given out by the courts as a punishment to felons and it is criminalising our children, is he planning to fit them up with a ball and chain and orange jackets too. We must not forget that this British Prime Minister was elected in and by Scotland, and him and the rest of his ilk elected in Scotland have no say on Scottish domestic policy, and while this situation persists it is the Scottish Nation that will be forcing slavery onto our English children. We must not forget either that they voted for their own children to get free university education while they forced ours to pay top up fees, leaving our children with debts of over £20,000 when they pass out.
We must not forget that it is the British that are denying England its political recognition, the British MPs we have sent to parliament to represent England, it is these who are to blame.
Until we have our own English MPs not British MPs representing England nothing is going to change.

Dying to be English
Why are the people of England listening and giving their support to the British propaganda machine when it is quite obvious the British are anti England, anti English, and are directly discriminating against our nation.
Following on from the scandalous actions of the British NHS to English patients reported on 25th March, we are now told that we can had to that report that thousands of English patients are being treated in portacabins because of the state of English hospital buildings, a mobile theatre meant to last 7 months at Good Hope Hospital Sutton Coldfield apparently was still open 18 months later. We also hear that some English children are being refused a TB vacination while others in their school class are given it, and of 2,311 English patients dying of starvation in English hospitals, with the West Midland hospitals heading this disgraceful list. We are also now told that the British MP for Stafford David Kidney is accused of failing to stop the deaths of hundreds of the English patients at the Stafford Hospital where the 1000+ patients died through appalling standards, by his refusal to blow the whistle on the horror hospital after receiving a dossier on the neglect 15 months before the failure emerged. This is the same British MP who has joined up with colleague Adrian Bailey an MP from Sandwell on a Commons anti English Regional Select Committee for the West Midlands, that is fighting for the destruction of England’s unity and wants to break the country up into 9 British Regions to deny England its political identity.
The West Midlands governing bodies are failing in their duties and from top to bottom are becoming a hot bed for anybody who is anti English or has anti English feelings. It appears if you want to be an MP, a city, town, or parish councillor or even be a simple public servant in the West Midlands, the first lesson you have to learn is how to deny your English identity and supplant it with a British identity which then gives you a licence to directly discriminate against the people you are in power to represent.
Andrew Rosindell's EDM 1253 in 2008 Calling for a national holiday for St. George's Day was signed by only 46 out of the 529 British MPs who are supposed to be representing England.
In 2009 over 1 million people support a public holiday for St. George's Day
http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/76173/1m-demand-Give-us-St-George-s-day-holiday
yet in a recent Early Day Motion, when Marsha Singh asked the HOC to make St. George’s Day a public holiday it anoyed one of our West Midland MPs a Mr. Ken Purchase so much that he made what can only be termed as a sneering amendment.

God's Good Servants But the Government's First
All 44 bishops of the Church of England have been asked by a churchgoer if they will hold a celebration on April 23rd for England's own patron St. George, who has been England's patron saint for the last 800 years. A mere five out of the 44 replied to say 'Yes' and most did not reply at all which indicates indifference. Some replied to say 'No' and one gave his reason that it might upset members of other faiths. One is left wondering if he - bishop no less - has stopped making a public profession of the Christian faith for fear it might upset members of other faiths.
What the response of the bishops indicates is that a majority of them share the same attitude of disdain towards England that is being shown by both the British Government and the British Establishment, an attitude of disdain towards England, their country, the country of which they are the Established Church. An attitude of disdain towards English patriotic sentiment which is not found in Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and shows not only an indifference towards a sense of English national identity and belonging, but also of hostility towards England itself as a distinct nation - their nation despite themselves. They are in England but not of it. Hostility towards the concept of Englishness runs very deep within the British Government and Establishment to which these bishops belong.
All the Church of England bishops were appointed by by the British UK Government and 'Does it not appear' , asks the National Council of the Campaign, 'that yes, the great majority of them are God's good servants but the Government's first?
